While your cargo trailer is versatile and great for hauling lots of different items, from power equipment to furniture, it can’t handle everything. There are certain types of cargo that you should never try to haul yourself in your personal trailer. Here are some of the items to keep in mind.

1. Hazardous Materials

Corrosive chemicals, oil, gasoline, propane, and explosives are all terrible items for the average person to haul in a cargo trailer, even in small quantities. These substances have to be transported very carefully by trained drivers on specialized trucks, so you should avoid trying to transport them in your cargo trailer. Liquids might spill and catch alight while you’re driving or parked, and explosives could detonate if jostled by an uneven road.

2. Heavy Machines

Large pieces of equipment shouldn’t be transported in a cargo trailer, either, since they probably won’t fit well and there isn’t a lot of ventilation. These items are also extremely heavy and may go over your trailer’s weight limit.

3. Live Animals

You can’t use a cargo trailer to transport livestock or other animals. These trailers aren’t designed to handle animals safely, as they aren’t made with the right dimensions and materials and they don’t have sufficient ventilation to keep your animals safe and healthy.
